It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Christine Urrea on April 10, 2026, in El Paso, Texas at the age of 56. Born in Mesa, Arizona to Catherine Seif and the late David Weaver, Patricia lived a life defined by insatiable curiosity, a generous spirit, a beautiful soul, and profound kindness that touched everyone she met.
Driven by her curiosity and quest for knowledge, Patricia was a lifelong learner. After becoming the first in her family to graduate from college at Indiana University, Patricia’s desire to serve others led her to Arizona State University College of Law. She soon realized, however, that her true calling lay not in the courtroom, but rather in healing. With her characteristic tenacity, she took a sabbatical year from law school to return to college and complete all her medical school prerequisites in a single year - earning a 4.0. Immediately after graduating with her J.D., she began her medical training at the University of Arizona College of Medicine Tucson and completed her clinical rotations at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso.
Despite her academic brilliance, Patricia found her ultimate purpose in motherhood. A year away from completing her medical degree, she made the selfless decision to step away from her studies to dedicate herself entirely to raising her children, Katrianna and Jaden. She was their confidant, teacher, advocate, and most avid supporter.
Patricia’s curiosity extended far beyond the classroom. She traveled to over 25 countries and documented each adventure through words and photography. She was a skilled storyteller that captured everyone’s attention. She spent years studying world religions to better understand the beliefs that shape humanity and spent over 10 years teaching catechism and confirmation classes to the local community at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. She truly never met a stranger; by the end of a single conversation, people often found themselves sharing their entire life stories with her, drawn by her genuine warmth and inquisitive nature.
A woman of immense bravery, Patricia faced significant adversity with grace. Though her world was tested by the tragic loss of her son, Jaden, in 2020 and her own diagnosis of stage 4 head and neck cancer in 2023, she refused to let these challenges define her. Instead, Patricia fought with unwavering courage and continued to live life to the fullest. She explored Israel, Jordan, Kenya, Pakistan, and Scotland. She dove into current literature on nutrition, functional medicine, and energy healing to learn how to best support her mind and body. She strengthened her relationship with God, found peace within herself, and never gave up hope.
She has been reunited in eternal rest alongside her beloved son Robert Jaden Urrea and her father David William Weaver.
She is survived by her daughter, Katrianna Isabella Urrea; her mother and stepfather, Catherine and Nick Seif; and her stepmother, Kenna Weaver. She also leaves behind her brother, Dean (Belinda) Rhein and their children, Leona and Liam; her sister, Donna Castner (Danny) and their children, Devin and Trevor; and her brother Christopher Weaver and his children, C.J., Logan, and Emily.
In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to honor Patricia’s legacy by nurturing your own passions, taking a genuine interest in learning about the world around you, and taking more photographs to document the beauty of your life.
