Ralph was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Outgoing by nature, he shared his warmth and generosity with everyone he met. A lifelong educator, he spent 35 years teaching in the El Paso area, beginning at Eastwood High School teaching crafts, then moving to Bel Air High School as a shop teacher. Known for his passion for woodworking, he inspired countless students through hands-on learning. As shop programs were gradually phased out, Ralph embraced change and transitioned into teaching technology at Clint High School, later finishing his career at Bowie High School before retiring.
An exceptionally skilled carpenter, Ralph found joy in creating custom woodwork for friends and family. His handcrafted boot jacks, Christmas angels, and cutting boards are treasured in many homes.
Ralph also had a deep love for the outdoors, often finding peace in fishing trips and getaways to Ruidoso, Cloudcroft, Silver City, and Eagle Lake. He was known for his humor and favorite saying, “Don’t worry about the mule going blind, just load the wagon,” a phrase that continues to bring smiles to those who knew him.
A dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan, Ralph approached each season with hope and good humor, famously remarking, “How ’bout them Cowboys—maybe next year!”
Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Jan; their three children, Jason, Eddie (Stephanie), and Joanna; and four grandchildren, Amari, Kiara, Jamie, and Jeremy Sanchez. His influence and kindness will be felt for generations, not only among his family but also within the many lives he touched as a teacher, mentor, and friend.
A celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at his home on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Please call 915-355-1235 to RSVP. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to support cancer research.
As he would say “ay te wacho, nacho.”
