Ramon "Monchie" Muñoz Jr.

Ramon affectionately known as "Monchie" was a lifelong resident of El Paso, where he graduated from Bowie High School. He was a proud Korean War Veteran working as a radio operator for the United States Air Force. Always an active member of the community, he was most proud of his Bowie Bears, serving as President and board member of the Bowie Boosters Association. He concluded his working career as owner and operator of M&M Fruit Company.

Monchie was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Cruz Muñoz; sister, Gloria Muñoz; and brother, Enrique Muñoz (Kiki).

He is survived by daughters, Belinda Rodriguez, Christina (Rudy) Leyva and son, Ricardo Muñoz; grandchildren, Ruby (Ruben) Casas, Rhia (Michael) Vallejo, Rikki (Angel) Sanchez, and Paul Leyva and great-grandchildren, Izac, Michael Jr., Michelle, Riley, Roman, and Julian-Cruz.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 29th, from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Restlawn, 8817 Dyer St., El Paso, Texas 79904, with Rosary Service at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 30th, at 9:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 9025 Diana Dr., El Paso, Texas 79904. Monchie will be laid to rest with his wife at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
