Raymond H. Varner, Jr., age 69, of Horizon City, Texas, passed away of natural causes on April 6, 2022, following a prolonged period of illness and disability. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father and grandfather to all of his family.
Raymond was a Retired Assistant Chief of Environmental Management Service at the Lexington, Kentucky VA Medical Center, after training for that position at the Dallas, Texas VAMC. He was a Life Member of Disabled American Veterans, having served honorably in the US Army from 1971-74. Raymond is survived by his wife of 49 years, Adele Varner; their only son, David, his wife, Rochelle, and their three grandchildren, Tyler, Erin and Chase, all of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
In addition to their immediate family, Raymond’s family would like to express their love and thanks for the caring, prayers and help provided to us, during his illness, by the following extended family members: his cousin, Debbie (Varner) Mitchell of Valrico, Florida, and her parents, Betty and Russell Varner of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; his brother-in-law, Don Kirbawy of Norton, Ohio; and his Army “Brother”, Jesus Reyes of El Paso, Texas; as well as for the care and assistance received from the staff of Encompass Home Health of El Paso, Texas.
