Robert Francis McEnroe passed away at the age of 88 on November 20, 2021 at University Medical Center of El Paso, Texas. He was the widower of Dorothy A. White, married from 1959-2000; and Katherine Watts, married from 2001-2017.
Robert was born in Albany New York on August 30, 1933. He was the son of William McEnroe and Rosemarie Rioux. He graduated from Siena College in 1955 before serving in the U.S. Army shortly thereafter.
Robert served in the U.S. Army for 27 years, retired in El Paso and then went on to open his own business, McEnroe Machine. He later worked for Dietzgen Corporation and Kessler Industries.
Robert was a long time member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and St. Raphael Men’s Association. He proudly and faithfully served as an usher, a Eucharistic minister and money counter.
Robert had an eclectic variety of interests ranging from his love of airplanes to metal and woodworking. He loved designing, adapting and modifying a variety of projects. Robert was a social butterfly; he loved telling stories, was horrible at telling jokes and had a soft spot for puppies, babies and nuns.
He is survived by his 3 children; Ann McEnroe of El Paso, Texas, Catherine McEnroe (Jim Carlson) of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert McEnroe, Jr. (Jo Ellen Armstrong) McEnroe, as well as his grandchildren, Thomas P., Casey J., Sarah A., Ryan P., Amanda R., Caitlin A. and 3 great-grandsons. Robert was also blessed with a multitude of good friends.
Funeral Mass with military honors will be held on December 7, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Road. Visitation and Rosary will be held on December 6, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive.
