Roberta M. Cordova, a long-time resident of El Paso, passed from this life on Sunday, December 26, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Roberta was born in Worth County, Missouri, on April 25, 1938 to Clarence Miller and Helen Hodson Miller. She learned the value of hard work as a child growing up on the farm. This work ethic continued throughout her life as she continued her business career. She worked for El Paso Natural Gas for twenty years and transferred to Houston when they moved their Corporate Headquarters. She returned to El Paso when she married Frank Cordova and worked in the family business – El Paso Crane and Rigging – until retirement.
She attended Business College in St. Joseph, Mo, where she met her future husband, Billy Gene Youngs (deceased). Their daughters, Beth Ann Cordova (Stafford VA) and Melissa Thompson (Bingham, Maine) were born there. They moved to El Paso TX, with a stop in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where their sons, Douglas Youngs and Bruce Youngs (Irene), (El Paso, TX) were born. In 1981, she married Frank Cordova (deceased) an El Paso businessman, and increased her family by nine children: Phillip Cordova (Debbie), Glen Cordova (Yolanda), Michele Cordova (Doug Ayers), Audrey Cordova, Paul Cordova (Liz), Teri Stevens, Laurie Vigil, Robert Vigil and Thomas Cordova (Kelly).
She is survived by siblings: Eleanor (Pat) Terry, Independence MO.; Linda Rossi, Lincoln NE, and Charles James Miller (Kathy), Virginia Beach VA. She had 27 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren whom she adored. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Roberta was an accomplished seamstress, a great cook, and loved interacting with other people. She started a Red Hat Club in El Paso and enjoyed her time with other people. She loved competitive games and played Scrabble and various card games. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 11:30AM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina, El Paso, TX 79915.
