Robert is survived by his children, Pat Gallardo, Cindi Porter and husband Victor Figueroa, Joseph Gallardo, and Richard Gallardo and wife Raquel; his beloved grandchildren, Peter J. Porter, Christina Guerra Schmitt and husband Nathanial, Katherine Gallardo, and Richard Matthew Gallardo; along with his companion, Martha Gallardo. He is also survived by his brother, Alfonso Gallardo, and his sisters, Beatrice and Emma Gallardo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Timoteo and Margarita Gallardo, mother of his children, Guadalupe Gallardo, son, Robert Gallardo, Jr., brothers, Anastacio and Fernando Gallardo, and sister, Bertha Cardenas.
Robert graduated from Bowie High School and the University of Texas at Austin, with a degree in pharmacy. He proudly served the El Paso community for 58 years, beginning his career at Gunning Casteel Pharmacy. He was the Director of Pharmacy at Hotel Dieu Hospital and later worked for La Fe Clinic and the City of El Paso. Robert spent his last years enjoying music, reading, and spending time with his family, extending a guiding hand when needed, and rejoicing in the successes of the people he loved. He was a proud veteran of the Korean war, striving to exemplify the virtues of loyalty and patriotism in all he pursued.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel . Rosary will be held at 7:00pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home at 1060 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 11:00am, with burial to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
