Rose Marie Salazar, known to her loved ones as Rosie, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. A devoted Catholic, she was a graduate of Loretto Academy and went on to build a career as a bookkeeper, where her attention to detail and precision made her truly exceptional in her work.
Rosie lived her life with energy and intention. She loved staying active, whether it was going to the gym, taking cycling classes, or pushing herself through kickboxing. She found peace and joy in the simple beauty of nature, often spending time outdoors appreciating all it had to offer. Gardening was one of her passions, a reflection of her nurturing spirit and the care she gave to everything around her.
Above all, her greatest pride and joy were her two sons. They were the center of her world, and she never let a moment pass without reminding them how deeply she loved them. Her love was unconditional, unwavering, and constant. When told “I love you,” she would always respond, “I love you more,” a phrase that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
Rosie was a devoted and loving wife to her late husband, Gilbert Salazar Sr., who passed away in 1994. Their marriage was a foundation of love and strength, and she remained widowed for the rest of her life, carrying a quiet strength and enduring devotion that shaped the family she cherished.
She was the very definition of a giving and selfless woman. Rosie opened her heart and her home to others, always making people feel welcome, cared for, and never alone. Her kindness, warmth, and hospitality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. To know her was to experience genuine love in its purest form.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Gilbert Salazar Jr. and Christopher Salazar; her siblings, Anna Blot and Richard Blot; her sister-in-law, Celeste Blot; her niece, Annamarie Ochoa Espejo, with whom she shared a special bond as fellow middle children; and many others whose lives were touched by her love and generosity. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who were present and supportive during her final moments.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Salazar Sr.; her parents, Joseph Ray Blot and Carmen Blot; her siblings, Joe Blot Jr. and Carmen Ruiz; and her twin sisters, Mary Ann and Mary Lou, who passed away in childhood.

Tribute
There was a powerful honesty in Rosie’s words that went straight to the heart, the kind of truth etched into the soul through lived experience.
She walked through fire, yet still chose softness and open arms. It was a beautiful thing to witness her choosing to stay for herself, not out of survival, but out of love.
Her love was steady, patient, and present. It showed up in the quiet moments, in ways that made you feel seen, safe, and never alone. Her devotion extended across her entire life: to her late husband, Gilbert, with whom she shared a marriage rooted in love and partnership, and to her sons, who were the center of her heart and joy. She carried the memory of her husband with quiet strength and gentle grace, showing that love endures beyond life itself.
She shared many fond memories of her father and the love she carried for him stayed with her throughout her life: quiet, constant, and deeply rooted in who she was.
About three years ago, a song played, “Dream a Little Dream of Me,” by Ella Fitzgerald. Its lyrics, filled with love and longing, speak to tender moments of connection and remembrance, asking to be carried in the heart even when apart. For her, they evoked a deep sense of comfort and nostalgia.
As the line “Sweet dreams till the sunbeams find you…” came on, she turned from the kitchen stove and began to cry. She had once heard her father sing this song, and in that moment, she remembered him, not as a performance directed at her, but through the small, intimate details she had always noticed and cherished about him. Her tears were for the quiet, enduring love she observed and held in her heart, a love that remained with her always.
All those years had passed, and yet a single song brought it all back, a memory of her father, a moment from childhood, a feeling she hadn’t felt in decades. And now, that same line gently carries forward as her farewell.
Three generations, bound together in one moment, gently carrying her to the everlasting embrace of Heaven with God.
She didn’t just leave behind memories, she left behind a way of loving that will continue to live through all of us who were destined to know her.
“Sweet dreams till the sunbeams find you, leave the worries behind you.”
