Salvador "Chava" Avelar

Our hearts were broken and our minds in disbelief when we got the sad news. We had to accept we were no longer be making any new memories together. Our saving grace was that we have so many wonderful and happy memories of you. When we think of you, we will think of your kindness, your strengths, your sense of humor, your adventurous side, your love of music especially oldies but goodies, slapstick comedies, christmas music, the game of football and playing games. You had so much talent whether it was paying guitar by ear or the organ. You could fix cars, appliances, stereos and so much more. You could create new and useful and beautiful things from stuff people would discard. But, beyond the ability to fix just about anything and your other talens. Perhaps the best thing about you was the way you loved your children and grandchildren. You weren't afraid to share how you felt about us. We thank you for making sure we knew you were proud of us and proud to be our dad and grandpa. Thank you for always being there for us. You always remembered our special days and made time to call us.

Dad, we are going to miss you everyday, every minute, every second but we know you will be with us all the time in our hearts. We thank God for blessing us with the loveliest and coolest man there ever was. Life isn't going to be the same without you here. Dad, we did our best to adhere to your wishes when this day came along.Dad, we will be hurting for a long time to come but don't worry we will take care of each other.

So yes we lost one of the good guys but he left us full of pride and love. We will miss seeing the man that always greeted us with a smile. We will also miss seeing the man that would greet you with a peace sign as he drove on by. We will miss seeing that as will the town of Fabens. So as you would do we give you the peace sign and go in peace and hope you're at peace now. We will love and miss you forever.
