Sanford Cidney Cox, 64, was born August 2, 1958, in Ozark, Alabama to Cidney Henry Cox and Dorothy Davis Cox. He went home to be with the Lord Jesus, whom he loved, on November 9, 2022. He completed high school in Gulfport, MS, gem cutting school in Gardnerville, NV, and slot machine technician training in Lake Tahoe, NV. While in Lake Tahoe, Sanford developed his love of hiking mountain trails. He loved to sit atop Job’s Peak and look down on the sun sparkling on the beautiful lake below. In his later years, he nurtured a desire to see the country by earning his CDL license and driving a long-haul truck. He had a quirky sense of humor that made people laugh or groan. Sanford was a caring and loving man of God who leaves behind numerous friends around the country who join his family in mourning his passing. Sanford was preceded in death by his parents, Cidney and Dorothy Cox and sister Judy Beth Cox. He is survived by his sister, Dr. Sheryl Maxsom (Joseph), daughter Krysta Brethauer (Morgan) and son Michael Cox. He is also survived by grandchildren, Justen Brethauer, Christopher Brethauer, Aurora Brethauer, River Brethauer, Hunter Brethauer and Corey Sawyer-Cox, all of Nevada. He is also survived by nieces Heather Denny (Dan) of Whitehall, MT and Amber Ordway (Rob) of Boynton Beach, FL, seven nieces, nephews, one great nephew and several cousins. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in Sanford’s honor to your favorite charity. A Celebration of His Life will be held on November 22, 2022, at 10:00 am in the Chapel at the First Baptist Church of El Paso.
