Sidney Zarges

Dr. Sidney T. Zarges passed away on January 8th in El Paso, Texas at 80 years of age. Dr. Sid was born in Raton, NM in 1936. His father was Henry W. Zarges of Cimarron, New Mexico, and mother was Alma C. McDaniel of Roswell, New Mexico. Sid married Sue Schroeder on Sept. 12, 1958 in Monte Vista, Co. Sid and Sue graduated veterinary school in 1960 from Colorado State University. They moved to El Paso where they practiced veterinary medicine and opened Zarges Animal Clinic in 1965. They were the first veterinarians to perform equine surgery in the area. Dr. Sid focused on equine medicine and worked at Sunland Park Racetrack and Ruidoso Downs Racetrack. In semi-retirement he vetted equine Endurance rides all over the country. Dr. Sid is survived by his wife Sue and daughters: Cynthia, Kristi and Julie, acquired daughter Maluka Munoz. Grandkids: Bevan, Aubree, Kelsey, Kaleb, and Little Sue. Siblings: Sara Cericola, Floyd McDaniel, and Susan Lester. Viewing will be on Friday January 13th at Martin Funeral Home on 128 N. Resler, El Paso, TX from 11 am to 1 pm, Graveside service immediately following at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Rd., Santa Teresa, New Mexico at 1:30 pm.
