My dearest Hemley family my heart and prayers are with u still such difficult time she an angel in heaven keeping u all safe may she rest in peace. 
I lived Sonia so much there no greater person than her.

I remember what a trooper she was in Greece 2018. Even in the pouring rain she was one of the few of us to get out of the bus and tour the ruins of ancient Philippi. May Sonia Hemley rest in peace and as the old spiritual says, "go walk all over God's heaven. 

Sonia brightened every room she walked into.  Her cheerful, positive, playful attitude was infectious.  She cared deeply for her friends and family, including extended family like ours.  Even if we were not able to see her in person as much as we’d like, living on the East Coast, we knew she was always there to support and encourage, share a laugh, celebrate a birthday or graduation.  
Sonia’s love of adventure found the perfect outlet in the many trips she and Bob took with my parents, “Gog” and Gin.  Hawaii, Ireland, Belize, Alaska.  Sonia and my mom were “partners in crime,” always planning their next one.  So many great stories, like the one Sonia often shared from their summer visit to the Outer Banks of North Carolina when it was so hot the ice cream cones melted down their arms before they could eat them.  She loved having fun and could make fun out of almost any moment.
My dad, brothers and I have been fortunate to visit Sonia and Bob and their family several times in the last few years, and we loved connecting to the places my parents grew up in and around New Mexico and El Paso.  But El Paso will not be the same without Sonia – her always warm welcome, her incredible enchiladas, and the big family group dinners she always arranged.
Sonia’s spirit was unquenchable, even the last time we FaceTimed with her earlier this year.  She lifted up our day with her smile and upbeat attitude, and she looked fabulous.
Sonia imparted to all of us generosity, kindness, wisdom, and compassion.  May those qualities of hers fill our hearts and brighten our days always.

I know you would have been pleased to see so many of your Lujan family present. You always had gatherings to make sure we all knew each other. As I looked around, I saw that all four Lujan sisters' descendants were represented: Ana's great grandson-Aaron, Frannie's great-granddaughter-Lysa, of course Connie's family and MaryJo's son-Larry. Even some of the brother's progeny were present: Raymundo's great-granddaughter-Julie and Leonardo's grandson-Mauro Leonardo and his children were there.  I hope we can continue to stay in touch because it was always your work that brought us together. 
I will miss telling you of my new genealogical finds. You were always so excited. But now that you are up in heaven and meeting some of these people that I only know by name, will you please point me in the right direction to break down our big adobe wall??

To all of the Hemley family, God bless you all. My deepest sympathies and all my prayers and love to all of you during this difficult time. Mrs. Hemley to,say it simply, was a great lady. I remember her support for all of her family and the friends of her children. That kitchen holds so many memories and if it could only talk imagine what stories it would tell. May Mrs. Hemley rest in pease. 

James and I have so many wonderful memories.   Mine started when I was  12 year.s old helping Sonia wash clothes in a wringer washer.   Another time was when  we spent a week together in Panama City Beach, Florida.  She was also an excellent hostess  when we visited   In.  El   Paso.     We                       love you  so much and  will miss your bubbly personality. 😍
 

Sonia was a beautiful person inside and out. I knew her through my brother Jeff's marriage to Bonny. I did not get to visit her very often when I came to El Paso, but she was so welcoming when I did see her and Bob. Many years ago Sonia and I each had a diagnosis of breast cancer. We had phone conversations on how things were going with treatments. She always had kind and comforting words. 

Sonia is greatly missed by her family and friends who know what an impact she had in their lives.

Bonny is our neighbor. Has been for almost 19 years. We started as neighbors, then best of friends. Our boys went to school together since elementary. Over time we became family. Sonia and Bob came to many of our family functions. Enjoying our Mexican music, food and margaritas/beer too. We joined the Hemley’s as well on many family functions. Enjoyed great times with them and got to love them as family. It was hard to hear of Sonia’s passing. Will always keep this beautiful angel in our prayers. Always with a smile on her face and looking pretty. Baile con los angelitos. God Bless 

We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family. I remember your mom when I worked at Memory Gardens even though it was a sad time for your parents. I cried with them. Her kindness and caring had to have rubbed off on Kenny who will always be a special friend to us. Also to Kym who has a heart of gold. We will always be here for you.

I'm so sorry for the loss of this amazing woman ,  My prayers are with u all in this hard times.I remember being about 10 yrs old we would go to ur house every yr when ur uncle Dick and Aunt Dolly would come from calif around Christmas  ur mom and dad treated me just like family I remember Kenny and Terry and my brother bill being mean to me  (at least I thought it was mean). Haha Sonia took and hugged me kissed my forehead and told me a was amazing, and sweet! And never forget what a good lil girl I was. I have never forgotten! Never. Thank u for sharing ur family with me even tho it wasn't  everyday.  U always made me feel like I was one of ur cousins also.

My heart is broken. I will forever remember my beautiful friend and confidant. Her spirit, joy, happiness, love and smile will always be in my heart. She was caring and kind, always saying the right words to cheer you up or offering a shoulder to cry on. I cannot pay enough tribute to this wonderful woman.
