

Stella Lou Bauman, a native El Pasoan, born on November 13, 1928, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 1, 2011, at the age of 82. Stella Lou graduated from Texas Western College with a degree in Biological Sciences and was an active member in the ZTA sorority. After graduation she went on to teach in EPISD for 33 years, touching the lives of many children. She was very active in the community and believed in giving back to El Paso. She was a member of the Women’s Club of El Paso for 40 years where she served on the Board of Directors, and recently was honored for being an outstanding member. She was a past chairman for the Arts and Crafts Club and Book Club, among various other clubs. She was also a past Chair/Director of the Women’s Department of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce. She served as Vice Regent of the DAR, Rebecca Stoddard Chapter, from 2009-2011, and was a member since 1984. She enjoyed being a member of Mary Circle, Desert Hills Garden Club, hostess of George Washington Tea for 20 years, and a member of the PEO Chapter DR since 1975. Stella Lou was well known for hosting parties in her home for all occasions as well as being very generous with her time and talents. She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel Oran Roberts, Sr. and Loula Walton Roberts. She is survived by her partner in life and best friend Sam S. Avner, brother Daniel Oran Roberts, Jr., niece Dana Roberts Grissom, nephew Daniel Todd Roberts and wife Jocelyn, and six grand nephews Demitri, Dante, and Dominic Grissom, Magnus, Raif, and Reece Roberts. Her faith led her to Trinity-First United Methodist Church where she had been an active member for over 40 years.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 9:00 AM with the Funeral Service following at 10:00 AM at Trinity-First United Methodist Church, 801 N. Mesa, El Paso, TX 79902. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in her memory to Trinity-First United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society of El Paso, 909 East San Antonio, El Paso, TX 79902, or your favorite organization.
