March 10, 1947- March 10, 2025
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Susan passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Susan was born to Janet and Maurice Terrill on March 10, 1947 in El Paso, Texas. She attended Radford School (class of 1965) and Texas Western College (class of 1969) where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She had a long and meaningful career in education, teaching at Mesita, Cooley, Crocket, LBJ, Andress High, and St. Clement’s. She later earned her Master of Education in School Counseling from UTEP and counseled students at Franklin High and Lamar Elementary.
She was an accomplished knitter and loved spending time with the Knitting Guild of El Paso. She was a member of El Dedon Verde Garden Club and served as president twice. She was an active member of the Texas A&M Aggie Moms Club while Lindsay was a student there. She played mahjong, sang in the Western Hills Choir for many years, taught chapel at St. Mark’s Day School, and participated in many community, school, and social events throughout her years in El Paso. She was happiest spending time with Bob, raising their daughters, enjoying time with family and friends, and cruising in his ’57 Chevy.
Susan is survived and greatly missed by her husband of 56 years, Bob; daughter Robin Niland, her husband Matthew and their children Meredith Hope and Blake Littleton; daughter Lindsay Williams, her husband Bryan, and their son Porter Robert. To her beloved grandchildren she was “Ami” and spending time with them was one of her greatest joys. She is also survived by her brother David Terrill, her sister Deborah Hauptman, much extended family, and many dear friends.
Susan will be remembered for her bright disposition, caring heart, and beautiful smile. A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 21 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Love Road. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of Robin and Matthew Niland.
