Tom Lara was born on November 13, 1940, in La Union, New Mexico. He proudly served his country in the United States Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. After his service, he returned to El Paso, Texas, where he worked hard to build a meaningful life for his family and himself.
Tom was one of nine siblings. He became a Master Plumber, started his own plumbing business, and owned a Laundromat and Car Wash. He built his businesses through dedication, perseverance, and pride in his work, and was known for his strong work ethic. Outside of work, Tom enjoyed spending time on the golf course, visiting the casino, taking spontaneous vacations, and, most of all, being surrounded by family. He never passed up an opportunity for a family gathering and treasured those moments together.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Marcela and Lionso Lara, and by his wife, Guadalupe.
He is survived by his children, Nancy (Lorenzo), Michael (Joanie), and Albert (Monica); his grandchildren, Michael Jr., Lance, Daniel, and Camila; and his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Mikayla, Abigail, Mia, Penelope, and soon-to-be Mary Alice.
Tom will be remembered for his love of family, quiet strength, and the lasting legacy of hard work he leaves behind.
