Valdemar Gaston Rivera

Valdemar “Val” Gaston Rivera, 39, of Cd. Obregon, Sonora was called home on November 6, 2015. He was surrounded by his loving family. Val was always there to provide laughter and lighten your heart. He loved unconditionally and was a great friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was an amazing cook who loved to BBQ. As an avid foodie, he loved inventing new dishes. No one ever left his home hungry. He loved fishing and being with family and friends. He was a proud and loving father of four children. He dressed up as Santa Claus year after year for many needy children for Dona Ana County. He loved joking around and making people smile. Val was the life of every party. He loved to travel. Val lived by the quote, “Get busy living or get busy dying.” Val will be eternally remembered for his infectious smile and comically wild personality. He is survived by his wife, Christina Brezovsky of 18 years, his daughters Marianne (16), Dakota (12), his sons Valdemar Jr (9), Vladimir (5), niece Emily, Nephews Mario, Marco and his brothers Mario and Jorge Rivera. He is preceded in death by his father Mario Rivera Sr., his mother Elva Rivera and his younger brother Cesar R. Rivera. Visitation will be held from 5-9 PM on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Hillcrest Funeral Home with Vigil at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 PM on Friday, November 13, 2015 at San Jose Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home 1060 N. Carolina 598-3332.
