

William Kirkwood Meyer, 68, of Horizon City, Texas, passed away on October 6, 2016. Bill spent most of his younger years in Virginia Beach, Virginia before moving to Northern Virginia where he worked as a cable splicer for Verizon Communications. He retired in 2008 and he and his wife, Liz, moved to Horizon City to retire. Bill loved history, antique cars, and sports, especially the Washington Redskins and Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed target shooting and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He was an avid cyclist, building many of his own bicycles, and a toy train enthusiast who at one time had a small business buying, selling, and repairing toy trains. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Liz, four children, Stefan, Matthew, Emily, and Lacy Meyer, two grandsons, Noah Ashford and Owen Meyer, his Godson, Sgt. James Kinnett, his sisters, Sally Grant and Sandy Quintana, numerous nieces and nephews, and, of course, his dogs, Ruby, Gunther, and Benjamin. The family will have a gathering at their home in Horizon City on Saturday November 26, 2016 in celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of his favorite charities: The American Diabetes Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the ASPCA, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
