

William Lee Petroff,95, February 01,1930-March 15, 2025 A residence of El Paso Texas. He served in the United States Army Air Force and was stationed at Yokota Air Base Japan as an A&E Mechanic and gunner. Korean War Veteran. Received a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal. He then was stationed at Lackland AFB San Antonio, Texas, 97th Periodic Maintenance Squadron Biggs A.F. Base, Fort Bliss, Texas. After being Honorably discharged from U.S.A.F he became a Federal Agent for the U.S. Border Patrol at Marfa, Texas.
In 1955 joined El Paso Police Dept Force as radio patrol, Detective then being promoted to Head the new Eastside substation as a Lieutenant. William retired 1977 from E.P.P.D. Force. Dad was a 32nd Degree Mason, El Maida Shriner, expert Firearms Marksman. He enjoyed casting and reloading bullets for himself and friends. He single handedly apprehended a FBI most wanted Fugitive at the then State national bank of El Paso.He was awarded by Mr. Chris P. Fox, president of State National Bank. He was also awarded for his service of security@ Chamizal National Park by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Over five decades being a Extra Class Ham Radio Operator.
Dad was proud of his Bennington maternal lineage as "Sons of the American Revolution" SAR; Preceded in death his Father Samuel Petroff McKeesport, Penn; Mother Belinda Bennington Petroff of Ohio, Brothers Sam Petroff of Colorado, Caral Richard Petroff of Ohio, Butch Petroff of Nebraska and Roy Petroff, Sisters Linda Lou of Ohio and Ginger Petroff and Granddaughter Casey Jo Burrows He is survived by his beautiful and loving precious wife Yolanda Montes-Petroff of 67 years, daughters Wendy Leigh Shippey Texarkana Texas Bunny Burrows Billings Montana; Sons William Lyle, Samuel Scott of Dallas, Texas. Loving grandchildren Cody Shippey, Justin Shippey(Chandler) all of Texarkana, Texas, Candace Burrows of Billings Montana. Great Grandchildren Bastian Shippey, Ellora May Nixon.
A visitation for William will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915. A rosary will occur Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 6:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Drive, El Paso, TX 79915. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Rd, El Paso, TX 79925. A graveside will occur Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
