
William B. White, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2014. He was born in Lufkin, Texas on December 23, 1929. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse White, his mother Willie Faye White, brothers Robert White and Jesse Eddy White, He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine Peterson White; one daughter Wendy Rice and her husband Richard Rice of El Paso; one son, Edward White of Lincoln, Nebraska; four grandsons Richard, Michael (Jamie), Joseph Rice and Justin White. Bill attended school in Chillicothe, Wichita Falls and Tenaha, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1951 receiving a commission in the US Air Force attaining the rank of Captain. After leaving the Air Force he worked for Scurlock Oil Company and for El Paso Natural Gas Company. In 1962 he moved to El Paso employed by Aetna Life Insurance and later was a General Agent for Transamerica Life Insurance. He was a member of the Chartered Life Underwriters Association. He was also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Sun Carnival Association, the Sun Bowl host committee and Chairman of the Sun Bowl Selection Committee. Bill was a past member of the El Paso Jaycees, president of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and the Cielo Vista Kiwanis Club. He was co-founder of the El Paso Crime Stoppers. He held membership in the American Legion, United Way and served on the founding Board of Directors of the East El Paso YMCA. Bill was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Directors for Houchen Community Center and Newark Methodist Hospital. His sense of humor and friendship will be missed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church Building Fund. Services will be Tuesday, July 8th at 9:30a.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 9915 Montwood. Interment will follow at for Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
