

Mike (Nascar) Ihlenfeldt of Pflugerville passed away on Sunday, April 5th, 2026 at the age of 62. He was born December 9th, 1963 in Austin, Texas to Edwin and Faye Ihlenfeldt. He was the youngest and only son of their five children and never passed up a chance to aggravate one of his older sisters! He attended school in Pflugerville, Texas.
Mike had a natural mechanical aptitude and followed in his father's footsteps to become an auto mechanic. He worked on a variety of engines including cars, boats, motorcycles and anything in between. Mike last worked at Shenanigan's in Austin and Roadhouse in Round Rock maintaining the various types of equipment used in the bars. He made many friends during his life and he was known to most of them by "Nascar". His first love was Nascar racing and all that it entailed. Good luck if you asked him a question regarding an upcoming race, a specific car or driver. He would bend your ear with all the details you never knew you wanted to know! He will be missed by his family, fellow employees and his many friends. The family especially wishes to thank Jamie and Bill for their support the last few months.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Faye Ihlenfeldt, and his sister Peggy (Johnny) Cates. He is survived by his sisters: Wanda (Bill) Kalmbach, Nancy Ihlenfeldt, and Linda (Mike) Killion. He has four nephews: Nathan (Anita) Killion, Ryan (Rachael) Kalmbach, Steven Killion (Jason), Cody (Karina) Kalmbach and niece, Jessica (Norman) Guerrero. He also has six grandnieces and one grandnephew.
A private graveside service will be held at Speir Cemetery in Elgin. A celebration of life event is being planned, the date and location have not yet been determined.
