She was born in Mohammad, Illinois and was of Baptist faith.
Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar McDaniel; three children, Donald McDaniel, Willie McDaniel and Alice Key; her parents, John Milton and Mary Louise Bales; her siblings, Bert Bales, Billy Bales, Ralph Howard Bales, Alice Bales, Rachel Bales, Mary Branscum and Olivia Crews and a son-in-law, Bobby Hicks.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Hicks Goodman (Ruffus) of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren, Ginia and Sean and three great-grandchildren, Harley, William and Austin.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Leroy Routt officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
