
He was born on January 30, 1939, in Hardin County, Kentucky to the late Marvin and Margaret Welch Cofer.
Carl was a member of Youngers Creek Baptist Church and retired from Crucible Magnetics after 35 years. He loved his family and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. Carl enjoyed being outdoors, including working in his shop, mowing, and gardening. He volunteered much of his time at the church and was a Green Bay Packers and Kentucky Wildcats fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Billy Gene Cofer.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Carolyn Sue Cofer; two daughters, Karen (Ron) Duren and Carla (Lance) Davidson; one brother, Louis (Joyce) Cofer; two sisters, Betty Sue (Richard) Howe and Mary Lou (Eddie) Mobley; one sister-in-law, Betty Ann Cofer; four grandchildren, Ashley (Brent) Brown, Adam (Amber) Reed, Britt Pitcock, and Drew (Mattie) Pitcock; and four great-grandchildren, Max Humphrey, Sophie and Saylor Reed, and Nash Pitcock.
The funeral is at 12 PM Noon on Tuesday, April 28th, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Rev. Steve Hill officiating.
Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation begins at 9 AM on Tuesday and continues until the time of service at the funeral home.
