Born on October 5, 1948, at the clinic in Hodgenville, Kentucky, Carolyn grew up in Adair County before her family later moved to Louisville.
Carolyn retired from Bullitt County Public Schools. She also ran a small business out of her home as a talented seamstress, taking great pride in her work and creating with care for those around her. She found great joy ministering with her family and singing gospel music alongside her beloved husband and children for over 20 years, sharing her love for God through music. She also enjoyed cooking, traveling, and caring for her family in the many ways that made a house feel like home.
Her love for God and her family was at the center of her life. Carolyn was especially proud of her grandchildren and loved each of them very much. Her love for her family will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
She is survived by her children, Angie Turner and Amanda Gary (Mike Wolf); her grandchildren, Allison Cowles (Jarad), Kailie Gary, Jared Kurfiss, and Braden Gary (Ashton); as well as her niece, Kim Powell, and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Davis Turner; her father, Mitchell Powell; her mother, Winifred Powell; her beloved grandmother, Ina Warner; her brothers, Glen Powell and David Powell; and her niece, Amie Powell.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, with Bro. Mike Bell officiating, and burial to follow at Glendale Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hosparus Health of Central Kentucky in honor of Carolyn’s life and memory.
Carolyn will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She carried a strong faith and longed for the day she would be reunited in Heaven with her family and friends, hoping they would share in that promise as well.
