

Born August 25, 1935 to Roy Lee and Isola Yates, she was a member of Open Valley United Missionary Baptist Church. She got saved in 1953. She loved to read, embroidering, crocheting, house plants, canning and gardening. She was a homemaker.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Melvin Gene Peters; two sons, Gregory Peters and Dennis DeWayne Peters; two brothers, Earl Yates and Jimmy Yates; five sisters, Edith Stillwell, Barbara Miller, twins, Lois and Doris and Norma Yates and a great grandson, Waylon Blake Lucas.
Survivors included her daughter, Marchitta (Roger) Lucas; brother, Eugene Yates; grandchildren, Chad Peters, Adam Peters, Josh Peters, Megan Bell, Corey Lucas, Amber Loveday, Halea Sandfer and Brittany Butler; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Open Valley United Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Malcolm Doyle and Rev. Jeff Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and continue after 11 a.m. Tuesday all at Open Valley United Missionary Baptist Church.
