

He was a native of Hart County and a member of St. James Catholic Church. He retired from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer II, having served during Vietnam and received a Bronze Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Vera Bradley Johnston; two brothers, Armond and Wilfred Johnston; and two sisters, Bernita Sims and Juanita Higdon.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Penny Ann Johnston; two sons, Curtis Johnston and Patrick Johnston both of Colorado Springs; step son, Joe Trudell of Seattle, WA; three brothers, Royce Johnston of Chicago, Wayland Johnston of Elizabethtown, and Dwight Johnston of Clarkson; six sisters, Lorena Shumar of Indianapolis, Odaline Clemons of Clarkson, Georgetta Smith of Leitchfield, Denise Sims of Macon, GA, Judy Clemons of Clarkson, and Maryla White of Louisville; and two grandchildren, Nick and Preslee Johnston.
The funeral will be Thursday at 12 noon at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Casey Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and continues after 9 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home.
A Prayer Vigil will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
