He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Strange Tharpe; an infant son, James Henry Tharpe; parents, Joseph and Juanita Tharpe; five brothers, Allen, Earnie, Delbert, Dale, and Bruce Tharpe; and one sister, Brenda Bradley.
He is survived by one brother, Rickie (Judy) Tharpe of Rineyville and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen by the family.
A private burial will be held at Roundtop Cemetery.
