He was born on October 19, 1950, in Hart County, Kentucky to the late Joe Thompson and Millie Collins.
Dave retired from Metalsa and was a member of the Hardin County Farmer's Market, where he was known as the "green bean" man. He enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, and was a case knife collector.
He was a loving husband, father, and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Walker L. Thompson and his wife, Janie.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Mary Jane King-Thompson; two sons, Devin Chase (Bonnie) Thompson and Darren Ross Thompson; one sister, JoAnn Wakeland; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
The funeral is at 1 PM on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
A private burial follows in Roseburg Cemetery in Cub Run.
Visitation begins at 10 AM on Friday and continues until the time of service at the funeral home.
