A caretaker at heart, Lacona thoroughly enjoyed her career as a registered nurse working for Hardin Memorial Hospital and Gates Rubber Company. She was an avid gardener and cook who loved sharing her homegrown fruits and vegetables, whether fresh from the garden or hot off the stove. She treasured her family, and especially delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lacona was a member of Northside Baptist Church, where she was renowned for her homemade fried apple and cherry pies.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jim Haggan. She is survived by her children, Rhonda Turner (Eddie) and Mike Haggan (Cindy); grandchildren, Nick Turner, Macie Russell (Rob), Zac Turner, Haley Morris (Nathan), Thomas Haggan; and great-grandchildren, Oliver and Nora Russell.
A graveside service will be held for Lacona on Friday, August 29 at 11am at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to a come-and-go gathering at Northside Baptist Church following the service.
