
The Hardin County native was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church. She worked at Etown Sportswear for 30+ years and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Muriel Yates; her parents, Johnnie and Sarah Ellen Goodman Smothers; 3 brothers, Allen Smothers, Everett Smothers, and Toby Smothers; and a great grandchild.
She is survived by her 4 sons, Douglas H. (Lynn) Yates of Glendale, Danny Lee Yates of Elizabethtown, Terry W. (Debra) Yates of Harrodsburg, and Richard B. Yates of Stephensburg; one brother Rev. Ernest Smothers of Elizabethtown and one sister Stella (Billy) Hyatt of Decatur, Ala.; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie Bland, Austin Yates, Andrea Yates, Sarah Haven, Casey Ruckel, Amelia Yates, and Maranda Yates; and 15 great grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at 9:30 a.m Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Smothers officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veteren's Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
The visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
