A devoted father, son, brother, and loyal friend, Matt lived a life defined by generosity and a deep love for the people around him.
Matt grew up in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, where he spent his childhood on the soccer field, forging friendships that became more like family. It is where he met the mother of his children, Megan Barnes, and where he began building the life he was so proud of. A true craftsman and entrepreneur at heart, Matt poured himself into every project- whether constructing homes, leading his business, or trying his hand at raising cattle. He was guided by a strong work ethic and a simple, frugal way of living that reflected his humility and quiet strength. He approached each endeavor with creativity, determination, and an unwavering belief that if something needed doing, he would find the answer.
A passionate and true supporter of University of Kentucky sports, Matt never missed a chance to cheer on the Wildcats. But above all else, nothing brought him more joy than his family- especially his three daughters, Ann-Marie, Sara-Kate, and Mia-Claire. They were the center of his world- his pride, his hope, and his heart. Whatever sport, craft, or adventure his girls pursued, Matt was there- encouraging them, celebrating them, and loving them fiercely.
Matt was a devoted son to James and Catherine Barnes, a loving brother to Derek (Amanda), and a cherished uncle to Alex, Allie, Maggie, Dylan, Lilian, and Gavin Barnes. He also held a special place in his heart for Coleman, Madeline, Hudson and Owen Pence who remained important to him throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his brother Wade (Tiffany), who welcomed him into heaven with open arms.
Matt will be remembered for his big heart, his steady presence, and the way he made every person feel valued. His legacy lives on in the family he adored, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and strength.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved, taken far too soon.
