

Mona was born on January 22, 1957, in Louisville, Kentucky, to James Ray “J.R.” and Audrey Wortham. Mona was preceded in death by her brother, James “Jamie” Wortham. She is survived by her husband, Timothy J Asher; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn (Riggs) Krampe (Jonathan); her stepchildren, Nick Asher (Leah), Ari and Luka; Meredith Poyner McCoy (A.J.) and Evelyn Ann; Madison Gillstrap (Allan); Brittney Asher; and Lennon (formerly Brooke) Asher; her sister-in-law Rise Gilliom; her niece, Lucy Wortham; her nephew, Jay Wortham; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Mona graduated from Grayson County High School in 1975 and earned an associate degree in science from Western Kentucky University (WKU) in 1978, joining Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. She practiced dental hygiene in Owensboro for over forty years as a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association and taught at Henderson Community College.
As a young woman, Mona received numerous accolades in beauty pageants, including being crowned Miss Kentucky State Fair in 1975. In 1978, she was recognized as the first WKU candidate in 19 years to earn the title of Mountain Laurel Festival Queen, an honor that emphasizes poise, personality, and beauty. Mona was also an esteemed member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.
Mona and Tim were high school sweethearts and soulmates, marrying in 2022 when Mona moved to Elizabethtown with her mother Audrey. Audrey passed away in March 2024 at age 96. Mona enjoyed retirement by hosting family gatherings, spending time with her grandchildren, and staying in touch with friends.
Mona dedicated herself to her Catholic faith throughout her life, contributing significantly to her parishes as an organist, lector, and committed volunteer for numerous church-sponsored events.
Mona will be remembered for her radiant smile, her patience, her attentiveness to others, her sense of humor, her generosity, her dedication to friends and family, her engaging personality, and most importantly, her kindness.
Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church 206 N Main St, Leitchfield, KY June 6, 2025, at 10:00 am CDT with the funeral mass following at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life for Mona Asher will be held in the Church community building following mass. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Hardin County History Museum 201 W.
