

Master Sgt. Richard H. Himes Jr. (Ret.), 76, passed away on December 8, 2025. Born in Oneonta, New York, on December 14, 1948, to the late Richard and Bertha Himes, Richard lived a life of service and faith.
He proudly served 20 years in the U.S. Army and remained active as a lifetime member of the DAV. Richard was a dedicated member of College Heights Global Methodist Church, where he enjoyed being part of the dartball team and the Elizabethtown Emmaus Community.
Richard, known affectionately as "Dick," was a devoted husband to his wife of 55 years, Lois Relken, whom he married in Port Huron, Michigan, on August 29, 1970. Outside of his service and church life, he found great joy in the outdoors, particularly hunting, and fishing with his best friend, Bobby Smith. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lois; his daughters, Amy (Richard) Burgan and Tammy (Steve) Gardner; and his precious grandchildren, Alli, Liz, and Scott Burgan. He also leaves behind his sisters, Judy (Fred) Knapp and Edith Browning; his brothers, Wayne, Doug, and Terry Himes; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Himes.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 5pm - 7pm at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, KY. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 from 10am - 12pm at College Heights Global Methodist Church, with the Funeral Service starting at 12pm. Burial is to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
