

He was a resident of the Pleasant Grove area of Bullitt county. He was born in Indiana,
but spent his childhood in Summit, KY. Robert served in the United States Air Force as a fireman, being stationed in Tucson, AZ and Morocco. He and his wife, Helen, created Siesta Homes, building family homes in the Louisville area. One of Roberts proudest achievements was building, owning and managing Scenic Trail Apartments in Hebron Estates since the 1980s. He was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, as well.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Helen Campbell Johnson; a son, Michael
Campbell Johnson; his parents, Harley and Goldie Johnson; two brothers, Albert and Wilbur Johnson; and a sister, Irene Willyard.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Lee (Debbie) Johnson, Jr. of TN and Thomas Christopher
Johnson of Shepherdsville; two daughters, Peggy (Randy) Schaffer of IN and Shirlea (John)
Pemberton of VA; one brother, Donald (Suzie) Johnson of Louisville; grandchildren, Amanda and Kyle
(Tiahra) Johnson of TN and Travis Johnson of AL.; step grandchildren, Casey (Larry) Ferguson
of IN, Meredith Boyles and Sarah Berkeland of CO; great grandchildren, Amelia and Kolby
Johnson as well as step-grandchildren, Braden and Brynlea Babcock and Wenonah Campbell as
well as Katelyn Myers and Lisbeth Berkeland. He is also survived by many loved nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens
in Cecilia.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Bernheim Forest, Clermont
bernheim.org or the charity of your choice.
