Robin Ann (Wright) Todd, 64, of Sonora, took her last breath surrounded by her family on July 30, after battling an aggressive form of ovarian cancer. Although her family is devastated to live life without her, they are comforted at the fact that she was a follower of Christ and they’ll be reunited with her in heaven one day. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends, carried her through her 6 month battle. Even at the end of her life, she showed grace, faith, and a peace that surpassed understanding.
Robin was born on December 26, 1959 to Christine and Hansel Wright in Fort Knox, Kentucky. After Robin graduated from East Hardin High School in 1978, she married her high school sweetheart, Ryan. They were married for 44 years and created a beautiful life and home in Sonora, KY. She worked for 30+ years as an Executive Assistant to both the Hardin County Attorney and Judge Executive.
Robin’s pride and joy was her family, especially her daughters, sons-in-law, and four grandchildren. She loved taking the grandkids for rides around the farm, hunting for bugs and frogs, snuggling, and making every holiday magical. She also enjoyed shopping, especially at local antique stores, with her sisters and daughters
She cherished spending time with loved ones and hosting for cookouts, holidays, and weekends around the pool. Her love language was gifts and acts of service. She was always thinking of others and loved picking out the perfect gift for a birthday, Christmas, or just because. If you knew Robin, you likely remember her kind spirit, big smile, and her always asking about you or your family.
Robin is survived by her husband Ryan, oldest daughter Ashley Hughes (husband Adam), youngest daughter Ali Finlay (husband Benet), her four beloved grandchildren: Audrina (10), Hadley (8), Josie (6), and Benet (6); her mother Christine Wright and father Hansel Wright, oldest sister Barbara Ludwig (husband Mike), middle sister Carol Borden, youngest sister Sandy Holsclaw (husband Brent), mother-in-law Mary Todd, several brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and her sweet little dog Lucy.
Robin’s last days were spent with her family by her side. She continued to pour out her generosity and love until her very last day, as she ordered gifts for all of her nurses from her hospital bed. She was able to visit and text with friends and family during her last weeks to tell them how much they meant to her. Her family is grateful for the blessing of having a “long goodbye” despite the sadness that came with it. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those that knew and loved her.
Services will be held at the Brown Funeral Home (Elizabethtown, KY). Visitation is Saturday, August 3, from noon to 6pm; and continues on Sunday 10am-1pm. Her funeral service will be on Sunday, August 4, at 1pm. In honor of Robin’s life, she requested that people wear bright colors (her favorite was purple) instead of black.
