

He was born on August 7, 1967, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to the late Ilus Ray and Anne Houston Mackey.
Roger was a 1986 graduate of East Hardin High School and a member of Gilead Baptist Church.
They say “if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life,” and he truly loved his work and the friendships he built over 18 years with his TJ Maxx family. A proud UK fan, Roger could rattle off stats that most would never remember. He also enjoyed watching classic television shows, especially Star Trek!
Roger spent most of his life on the Mackey Family Farm, a place he loved dearly and where he will be laid to rest. He will be so greatly missed.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Dr. John Wright.
He is survived by his siblings, AnneRae Wright, Ray Allan Mackey (Jan), Scott Mackey (Karen), David Mackey (Stephanie), Carol Hinton (Steven), and Sarah Mackey; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Fulford (Don), Grant Mackey, Stuart Mackey, Rebecca Faust (Daniel), Ty Bruce (Lindsey), Taylor Chandler (Lance), Clarissa Mackey, Sawyer Mackey, Alexandra Mackey, Elizabeth Gipson (Dylan), Mary Hinton, Ashley Norton (Ryne), Julia Hinton, Emily Hinton, Addison Hinton, Lydia Mackey, Vivian Mackey, and Oscar Mackey; many great-nieces and nephews; aunts; and his TJ Maxx family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Visitation will resume Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 Noon. He will be laid to rest at the Mackey Family Farm following the service.
