Richard M. Godden

Rick was born on July 21, 1949 in Jackson, MI, the son of LaVern and Dorothy (Hetcher) Godden. After he graduated from Parkside High School in 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. In 1976, Rick moved to Torch River where he raised his family and operated the Torch River Pit Stop. Rick was a hardworking, honest man who led by example. Many consider him a legend, but he was a mentor to all. Rick was a proud father and family was always his top priority. He enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, golfing, hunting, and especially loved spending time with his friends and family.

Rick is survived by his companion of 20 years, Karen Herczak; sons, Josh (Tiffany) Godden and Zach (Marie) Godden; and his dear grandchildren, Olivia, Garett, Mason, and Claire. Rick’s parents and brothers, Ron and Mike, preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Mar 14 at 1:00 pm with visitation one hour prior at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. There will also be visitation on Wednesday, Mar 13 from 5 to 8 pm at Covell Funeral Home.
