Anna May Watring

On Friday, January 13, 2023, Anna May Watring, of Ellicott City, MD passed away at age 79 after a very brief battle with cancer. Anna was born October 16,1943 in Baltimore, Md to parents Howard Milton Miller, Sr. and June Delores Hutchinson. Anna is preceded in death by her parents, son John David Watring, and her siblings Howard Miller, Jr., April Patrick, and Joseph Giles.

Anna, had a very full life. She obtained a degree in Respiratory Therapy, and worked at Howard County General Hospital in this field for 17 years. She had a passion for studying Genealogy, which she used to author and coauthor 8 books on the topic. She also had a love of reading, couponing, gardening, plants, and true crime television. She took great pride in being a self proclaimed “crazy cat lady” and taking care of all the feral cats in her neighborhood. In retirement, Anna continued to work in retail and acted as her community HOA president.

Anna was best known for her ability to share her opinion, fierce determination, and generous spirit. She is survived by her children, Brian Tompkins of Illinois, Marilyn Watring of Ellicott City, MD, Janette Nash and (Raymond Nash) of Gainesville, VA, Jeffrey Watring of Boonville, MO, Matthew Watring (Laura Watring) of Louisville, KY; dear sister of Constance Rigney of Brooklyn Park, MD; Her grandchildren, Kyle and Evan Tompkins, Savannah and Zoe Nash, Rodrick Watring, Hunter and Evan Watring and great grandsons Carter and Henner Tompkins. Nieces and nephews, John and Christine Rigney, Kathy Jones, Glenda Karn, Kenny and Howard Miller, III. Wendy and Jason Patrick, and Joseph Giles. And many great nieces and nephews,cousins and dear friends.

A visitation for Anna will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. A celebration of life service will occur Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075. An interment will occur Saturday, January 28, 2023 immediately following celebration of life at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075.
