Arlene M. McCarroll, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away while residing in Eldersburg. Born in Baltimore to the late Herbert Paul Niederwemmer and Gertrude Ann Niederwemmer (née Deaver), Arlene lived a life rooted in family, warmth, and tradition. She shared 41 blessed years of marriage with her devoted husband, Ray D. McCarroll.
She was the cherished mother of Kimberly L. O’Dell and her husband, Ronald L. Schuk. Arlene is survived by her loving sister, Joan Barbour and her husband, Jim. She was a proud grandmother to Kaela F. Atkins, Bobbi P. Maes, and Dallas D. O’Dell, and a doting great-grandmother to Darren, Bella, Johnny, Benjamin, and Sydney.
Arlene lived a life filled with simple joys and heartfelt passions. She loved tending to her flowers and garden, dancing, and spending time swimming especially in the pool during warm summer days. Her travels to Tennessee and Myrtle Beach were among her favorite adventures. She delighted in listening to country music from the 1950s, particularly Elvis, and could often be found sitting on the porch enjoying the birds.
She adored Maryland crabs, corn on the cob, and had a sweet tooth for desserts. Red was her favorite color, symbolizing the vibrant and spirited personality she carried throughout her life.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a cause she held close to her heart.
Arlene will be remembered for her warmth, devotion to her family, and the joyful, colorful moments she brought into the lives of everyone who knew and loved her.
