Barbara Ann Novelli

Barbara Ann Novelli, 84, a resident of Jessup, Maryland for 30 years and previously of Laurel, Maryland died of natural causes on Monday, September 29th at her home, surrounded by her loving family and her faithful pets. Born on October 30, 1935, in Arlington, VA to the late Gertrude Wilkins and to the late Hans Waldo (step-father). Barbara worked at Giant Food in Landover, Maryland for 35 years.

Barbara, also known as Nana Barb, was a strong, caring lady with a huge heart for helping others. Her love for family, friends and the pets in her life gave her the greatest joy. Barbara’s hobbies were many including organ playing, cooking, shopping, watching old movies, staying aware of current events, discussing politics and her love of this country. Holidays were her favorite time of year, especially Christmas. She will always be remembered for her beautiful tree decorating and incredible gift wrapping. She also enjoyed Halloween so much that she was often known to celebrate her birthday on October 31st. She will be missed by so many.

Barbara was preceded in death by her sister Bonnie Hall. She is survived by her children, Bobby Halstead of New Market, Maryland; Gary Halstead (Betty) of Crofton, MD; Steven Halstead (Kathy) of New Market, Maryland and her beloved daughter Traci Novelli of Jessup, Maryland and her grandchildren, Crystal Halstead; Jennifer Rager; Jamie Burroughs; Steven Halstead; Jessica O’Connor; Kelly Transue; Katie Halstead and two step-grandchildren, Jamie Lyon and Tim Sheffer and 19 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020 from 1:00PM - 4:00PM at the American Legion Pavilion located at 9605 Old Laurel Bowie Road, Bowie, MD 20720.
