

BEATRICE ELLEN KIRTLEY O'DONNELL, R.N., died peacefully on July 3, 2013 at Renaissance Gardens, part of Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville MD, near St. Agnes Hospital where she was born in 1920. Her parents George and Beatrice Uniach Kirtley raised eight children in Towson. The youngest is Phyllis Kirtley Lange of Leonardtown. Bea was a member of the National Honor Society at Towson Catholic High School, and she earned her nursing degree at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore.
In 1942 she married Joseph Dean O'Donnell, Sr. (1919-2000), also one of eight children. That generation survives in Ruth O'Donnell Brown of Jarrettsville, Robert O'Donnell of Oak Crest Retirement Community near Towson, Nancy Cook O'Donnell of Towson, and Dorothy Bull O'Donnell of Jarrettsville.
Bea and Dean lived in Baltimore, Timonium, River Edge NJ, Rye NY, Laurel, Garden City SC, and Charlestown in Catonsville. They raised four children: Prof. J. Dean O'Donnell, Jr. of Blacksburg VA; the late Beatrice Kirtley "Kirt" O'Donnell, R.N., of Annapolis; Joseph Carroll Sultzer O'Donnell of Exeter, NH; and Sr. Christine Virginia O'Donnell, I.H.M., of Immaculata, PA. Joe and Maureen Pike O'Donnell raised three children in Exeter: Gwenelyn O'Donnell-Blake and Dr. Michael Blake of Falmouth ME are the parents of Neila Grace Blake and twins expected in July. David and Beth Brennan O'Donnell of Peabody MA have daughters Morgan and Maeve. Liam Joseph O'Donnell of Salt Lake City is preparing to be an R.N.
