Betty Jean Carter Died on February 26. Betty was born in North Carolina -- one of three children of Dr. Henry and Ruby Moore. Betty, a true southern belle, came to the Baltimore area during WWII for a job at Martin Marietta where she met and married the love of her life - Elton D. Carter -- a bigger than life man affectionatly known as, "Big Daddy". They were married for 50 years until his death in 1993. Betty is survived by three children: Debbie, Connie and Doug and 11 grand children.
The family spent summers at thier Severn river beach property where Betty provided the perfect setting for a continttuous flow of family and friends. The gatherings there are legendary – no group size or challemge was to great. Betty warmly welcomed and provided food and entertainment for all. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing and reading but mostly just being with her family.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home, Inc., 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD, Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 1 p.m., with interment to follow at 2 p.m., Meadowridge Memorial Park.
