

Betty Jean Thompson, age 68, of Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Born and raised in Maryland, Betty was the beloved wife of 40 years to Walter J. Thompson II. She was the cherished daughter of the late Evelyn C. Lapp and is survived by her father, Kenneth M. Lapp. Betty is also survived by her Loving Son, Jonathan Badue and husband, Jose; Dear Cousins, Karen Patno (Michael), Barbara Chilton (Jim), and Susan Anderson (Roger); her sisters-in-law Dawn Freburger and Shirley Wingfield; and very good friend who helped care for her, Tonia Cosentino. Betty is predeceased by her siblings-in-law David Thompson and Yvonne Thompson.
A graduate of UMBC with a bachelor’s degree in accounting (Class of 1979), Betty lived a full and vibrant life. She was an accomplished accordion player, and in her younger years, enjoyed square dancing and summers in Ocean City. A lover of the arts, Betty had a passion for photography, a hobby inspired by her father’s basement darkroom, and she dreamed of one day becoming a writer. She also enjoyed traveling, both across the United States and throughout Europe. Together with Walter, she shared a love of motorcycles and proudly supported the Maryland Motorcycle Safety Program.
Betty will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her creativity, and the many ways she shared her passions with those she loved.
Interment will be private.
