With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Carl Ray Loudermilk Sr., age 89, on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Carl transitioned peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and profound impact. He was born in West Virginia on April 22, 1934 to parents Raymond Carl and Dollie Roten Loudermilk.
Carl found solace and fulfillment in his passions, notably woodworking, photography, and his mastery of computer applications like Photoshop. His adventurous spirit was evident in his love for hunting, fishing, boating, and motorcycle riding during his younger years. He treasured moments spent with family, especially during visits to Phoenix, AZ, and Florida, as well as annual reunions in Lewisburg, WV, where he relished in auction and horseshoe competitions.
A dedicated member of the Masonic organization, Carl attained the esteemed rank of Master Mason, embodying principles of fellowship and service. His commitment to duty was exemplified during his honorable service in the United States Navy aboard the USS Mississippi.
In his professional life, Carl distinguished himself as the Electronic Production Manager for Westinghouse Electric Company, contributing significantly to the company's success throughout his distinguished career until retirement.
Carl was a loving father of Carl Ray Loudermilk Jr, Donna May Gray, and the late Robin Ann Acker; Cherished grandfather of Brandi and Thomas Schmidt, Sandra Gibson, Amy and Michael Clark, Sarah Ela, Stacy and Joseph Sterbach, and Michael Moreland Sr. and great grandfather of Aaron and Addison Schmidt, Avery Gibson, Hannah and Carlena Clark, Issy, Jackson, and Claire Ela, and Michael Moreland Jr.; Dear brother of Betty Wickless, Guy Loudermilk, and the late Bill, William, Robert and Fred Loudermilk;
Carl will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family, friends, and community. His legacy of love and integrity will endure through the lives he touched.
A Visitation for Carl will be held at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd, Elkridge, MD 21075 on Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
