Edward James "Hoot" Gibson, age 78, of Odenton, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024; He battled relentlessly against lung cancer, maintaining unwavering belief in his ability to overcome it. Unfortunately, he passed away despite his enduring fight. He was born on March 18, 1945 in Maryland to parents, Thomas L Sr. and Emily H. Gibson; Beloved husband of the late Gloria J. Gibson; Loving father of Tracy Lord (Scott), and Christine Gibson; Cherished grandfather of Brandy L. Cathcart, Keith D. Markley (fiancee Megan), Bruce P. Cathcart Jr. (Chelsea) and Kevin J. Cathcart and great-grandfather of Gage J. Benchoff, Brayden Markley, Sophia A. Cathcart, Cameron Markley, Bruce P. Cathcart III "Patrick", Nolan Markley, Chloe N. Cathcart, Makenna J. Cathcart, and Tripp E. Cathcart; Dear brother of the late Thomas L. Gibson Jr (Carol), and Franklin A. Gibson (Judith). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He passionately engaged in softball and bowling, finding joy in these activities. Football Sundays were cherished moments spent with his daughter Christine, his grandson Keith, and his fiancée Megan, with a special affinity for the Baltimore Ravens. The love extended to the Baltimore Orioles as well. As a devoted Air Force veteran, his commitment to service was a significant aspect of his identity.
