Born and raised in China to the late Tak Chiang Wong and Nguyen Yue Tang, Han Kwai was devoted to her family and dearly cherished by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Ling Tang and Wei Huan Deng; her sister, Joan Tong; and her brother, Tat Ting Wong. She was also preceded in death by her eldest brother, Tat Wah Wong.
Han Kwai was known for her warm spirit, sharp memory, and the joy she found in simple, meaningful traditions. Thoughtful and attentive, she had an incredible ability to remember the details that mattered most to the people she loved. She was also famously frugal, resourceful, hardworking, and appreciative of the small things that made life rich.
She loved gardening and cooking, especially Asian dishes, and took great delight in watching Chinese television shows, Wheel of Fortune, and the cooking channel. Steamed fish was one of her favorite meals, and she was especially known for her mochi cake dessert. To many neighborhood children, she was a “second mom,” always welcoming and caring. She also loved trips to New York and Philadelphia, where she enjoyed choosing the best Asian groceries.
Later in life, Han Kwai became a Christian, finding peace, comfort, and strength in her faith. She joyfully proclaimed that Jesus loves her.
Her kindness, generosity, and love leave a lasting legacy—one that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
