Andy grew up in Laurel, Maryland and started playing baseball for Maryland City in 1966. He played High School baseball at Atholton High School, college baseball for Howard Community College, and unlimited baseball for Gambrills.
Andy began his Adult baseball career in 1996 for the Chesapeake Marlins. He continued to play for the Chesapeake White Sox in the Over 30 league while playing double duty with the Chesapeake Phillies in another 35 and over league. After both the White Sox and Phillies folded, he joined the Chesapeake Mariners and has been a key contributor for the past 10 years. Andy's main position is shortstop, but he also plays 1B, and is always willing to fill in at any position his team needs. Andy has always been a consummate team player who would contribute any way possible to help his team and was a key contributor towards the Mariners winning over 500 games in their history.
Andy is also a very respected player on the Men’s National tournament circuit and has played in over 75 local, regional and National Tournaments. He has played primarily with teams formed from the DC MSBL, Southern Maryland MSBL and also St. Louis, MO MSBL. He has accumulated 10 National MSBL Championship Rings for his career from both Arizona and Florida. He also has National Rings from the Roy Hobbs adult baseball organization.
While his stats are impressive, Andy is best known as a great friend and teammate. Andy played exceptionally with a quiet confidence while rarely ever a missing a game and always gave 110% while he was on the field. His longevity is amazing as he continues to play competitively in the 35+ division into his 60’s. A lot of people are behind the scenes guys who don’t draw a lot of attention to themselves, but always contribute whenever needed and Andy is the type who coaches depend on to be successful. He has made a great many friends around our league over the years and is well deserving of this honor.
