Lawrence Edgar Dunnigan Jr. (Jack) from Baltimore, MD. passed away on December 2nd, 2023, at the age of 88. He was born on December 14, 1934. Jack was the beloved husband of the late Emma Gertrude Lathe. He was a loving father to six children and survived by four. Two of his children passed away at a young age. Sharon passed away on November 21st, 1974, and Candy passed on January 19th, 1975. Jack is survived by his four remaining children and their spouses: Jack Dunnigan III and his wife Tina, Chuck Dunnigan and his wife Dawn, Vickie and her partner Mike Benton, and Mark Dunnigan and his wife Cookie. He was the son of the late Lawrence E Dunnigan Sr. and Helen Kerchevail. He was a grandfather to 12 grandchildren, great grandfather to 9, and great-great grandfather to 1. Jack also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Jack would spend hours at the cemetery where his beloved wife and daughters were laid to rest. He would be there with them rain or shine and no matter how hot or cold it may have been on any given day. He met so many wonderful people there that were not only friends but special enough to become family. He even had an article written about all the kindness he showed to everyone in the community and beyond. Jack was known for helping them through their pain and even going above and beyond by carving, staining, and engraving wooden crosses for them to have on their loved one’s site.
Another important part of Jack’s personality was his connection to animals and nature. Whether it was catching something from the outdoors or bringing it home from the pet store, he always seemed to find a way to care for many different types of creatures. He had hawks, owls, ducks, lizards, and various other companions throughout the years. In addition to his love of nature, he was known for his creativity. There was nothing that Jack couldn’t do; many considered him “The Jack of All Trades.” If he had an idea, he would bring it to life within a day or so later. Jack worked until his early eighties doing various jobs from loading trailers to working in medical facilities. In later years he even had jobs helping his doctor friends. They trusted him entirely and even gave him keys to their homes because they knew how reliable he was and that he would take great care of everything. He also enjoyed all genres of music and even took different types of dance lessons throughout the years. He was loved and respected by many people, old and young. He will be dearly missed by many, especially his family. Words cannot express how many people’s hearts he touched and the memories of him that will be shared for generations to come.
