It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ludwell "Junior" Edwards, better known as Poppy to his devoted grandchildren, who left us on October 4, 2023. Born on October 7, 1929, he lived a fulfilling and impactful life that touched many.
Junior was honest, hardworking, and a respected individual whose ornery personality often brought smiles to the faces around him with the many stories he had to tell. Grounded in his faith, he consistently imparted on us the importance of being faithful to the Lord and caring for one another. These virtues formed the essence of his teachings and served as a guiding light for his family. He could be found on any given day watching the Baltimore Orioles or Ravens and playing with his great grandchildren.
The legacy he leaves behind is one of kindness, having lived his life in service to others. As a man who held his family dearly, he was a significant figure in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His absence will be deeply felt by his beloved grandchildren: Nicole Andersen (Scott), Jessica Thacker (Sam), Brent Edwards (Jen), Matthew and Jennifer Edwards, Lindsay Hawkins (Dan), Jamie Chatham, and Wyatt Chatham, his eleven great-grandchildren: Ethan, Hunter, Cameron, Aiden, Laila, Owen, Benjamin, Carter, William, Alexander and Evelyn, as well as his children Terry and Deborah Edwards. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn and son, Dennis who he adored and missed daily.
His family invites all who knew and loved Junior to a viewing in his honor at Kaufman Funeral Home in Elkridge, MD on Tuesday October 10, 2023, from 7-9PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to "Matthew & Jennifer’s Care", his grandchildren that was dear to Junior. Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of/ludwell-edwards/
We remember Junior as a beacon of virtue, kindness, and love. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his influence will continue to guide his family for generations to come.
