

Mae Duke (nee Moreland), 92, former resident of South Baltimore and, later,Glen Burnie, died peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017, while under hospice care at Shangri-la Assisted Living in Ellicott City. She was predeceased by her husband, the Reverend James R. Duke of Glen Burnie. After retiring from a long career at the Social Security Administration, she happily transitioned to her "second career" as pastor's wife, step-mother and grandmother. She was a life-long member of Randall Street Christian Church where she served as Sunday school superintendent for many years and later served as church elder. After marriage, she accompanied her husband to English Consul Christian Church in Lansdowne, where she served as elder in addition to her role as pastor's wife. Mae was an avid amateur photographer and was never caught without a camera. She was also a dedicated O's season ticket holder, attending all games and supporting her beloved team through thick and thin. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Morris, of South Carolina, her nieces, Diane Cain and husband, Tom, of South Carolina and Terry Fahringer, and husband, Sam, of Pennsylvania, her step-daughter, Joan Stanton and husband, Gary, of Ellicott City, Maryland, her step-son, the Reverend James O. Duke and wife, Jeanne, of Ft. Worth, Texas , 3 living grandchildren, Cassandra L. Perkins, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Deirdre Stanton Kleinow of Columbia, Maryland. and Shane Stanton, of Butler, New Jersey, many great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was pre-deceased by a fourth grandchild, Cara Nicole Duke, of Ft. Worth, Texas.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, Inc., 7250 Washington Boulevard, Elkridge, MD 21075 (exit 6 off Rt. 100) on Friday, March 10th, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 11th, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Interment Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, MD.
