Mary Elaine Allen

Surrounded by her children, Mary Elaine Allen returned to our Lord on Friday, April 10, 2026. She was born May 2, 1942 and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward B. Allen, Sr., her parents William and Mary Durr, brother John Durr, and grandson Christopher VanDorpe.

Mary was a devoted wife for 55 years and mother to Connie VanDorpe (Bruce), Phillip (Ann Hite), Edward, Jr. (Lauren Ward-Allen), and Jim (Shannon). She was immensely proud of her 15 grandchildren and thrilled by her 7 great-grandchildren.

Sewing and crafts were of great enjoyment and satisfaction for her. She was most proud of creating and sewing complete sets of priestly vestments and church linens for the historic St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She was also an integral part of the sewing collaboration team for the vestments and linens at the new parish location.

Mary was tended with great compassion in her final days by the staff at the Danbury Senior Living Center and DayCity Hospice in Tipp City, Ohio. We are immensely grateful that they share their gifts and talents with so many others.

Family will receive visitors at the Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home at Meadowridge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington Blvd., Elkridge, MD 21075, on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 5pm - 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church, 7850 Parkside Blvd, Hanover, on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11:00am. Interment will immediately follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.
